Winter Care Tips

Saturday, December 02, 2017

It seems already the weather has started changing from warm sunny days to the cold and the snow and so are you prepared for Winter?
Our skin becomes dry because of cold weather and low humidity which than takes away moisture from the skin and if immediate care is not taken it leads to cracking and bleeding and it can be really harsh. Our hair and skin become prone to drying causing dullness, itchiness in skin and hair and cracked feets and hands. In order to reduce chapping, redness, itching and keep our skin healthy try these tips.

Lukewarm Water
In winter season hot showers and baths makes us feel good and relax but it may not be good for your skin. In order to protect your skins natural oils choose lukewarm water particularly when just washing your face and hands.

Immediately moisture your skin right after your wash, it helps seal that dampness into the skin. Try  to keep a bottle near bath tub or at every sink and use liberally after every wash.

Choose  Moisturizer Carefully
You should opt for ones that comprise natural ingredients. Always prefer an oil-based moisturizer as it will help your skin retain moisture way better than its water based counterpart.
Protect And Sunscreen
In order to protect skin from cold winds, snow and rain get  used to wearing gloves and scarves. When clouds are out and the day is Grey we forget about applying sunscreen. After all we can't see sun but remember it's still there and in fact winter sun can be more dangerous. So apply a safe option like zinc oxide or titanium dioxide to any exposed areas.
Keep Yourself  Hydrated
In winter people tend to drink less water and consume more hot beverages but it's very necessary to hydrate your skin from within. Whenever you step outside carry a bottle of water with you and also a little warm water with lemon can be refreshing and hydrating at the same time.

It's really worth investing in! It's truely an overnight saver. With all artificial indoor heating the indoor air gets very dry and can dry our skin.

We forget to help the skin slough off dead  cells in winter specially on our hands and so moisture can't  get in if the dead cells are too plentiful and so exfoliation in winter is vital.

Overnight  Moisture
Some dryer areas like hands, feet, elbows and knees have very thin skin and so they loose moisture faster than other areas of body. Use a deep-conditioning night cream on your hands and feet when you go to bed and than wear gloves to keep the moisture locked in.
Face Packs
You can also apply home made hydrating masks to lock in the moisture in winter season. Use readily available ingredients like honey, buttermilk, yogurt, avocado, bananas etc.

Eat Healthy  Food  Not Fried  Food
Must include a lot of fresh fruits and juice so to your diet. Must make sure to add vitamin A and E in your diet. Avoid eating heavy cheesy, fried and sugary foods as this put more pressure on your body to divert energy into breaking down and digesting.
Avoid Damp Make Ups as it Leads to Clogging up of Pores

Time to enjoy the winter . Happy Winter :)
